Spain’s
national feast days are identical each year, although national public
holidays may change based on if the feast day falls on the Sunday or otherwise. Also,
each Autonomous Community might also choose either Father’s Day (March 19th) or Easter time
Thursday like a public holiday, in addition to celebrating one "Community Day", which
the Autonomous Community of Madrid celebrates around the second of May.
In addition, each town or
city features its own feast days to commemorate its patron Saints. Within the town of Madrid these
are 15th May (San Isidro) and ninth November (Almudena), even though the holidays might be
altered if these dates fall on the Sunday. Observe that Easter time is really a "movable" feast,
celebrated around the first Sunday following the first full moon on or following the Spring equinox of
March 21st.
